Help plz ? I want to make a robot that detects land-mine. so what should I use and how should I approach this project ? Answered

I want the robot to move up,down, left, right. when it detects the land mine I want it to make a sound but also move away from it. I would also like a moving arm that goes side to side on the robot when it's moving.

Seeing as there are a lot of plastic cased mines like the Italian VS2.2, you would need something that detects the explosive compound ie PE9 TNT etc
There has been much success using rats to sniff out mines because they are light and close to the ground.

Sooo... maybe you could build a motorized couch with a nose operated joystick for the rat to chill on.

There's also interesting work with bees, as sniffers which are apparently easier to train.

You start very simply by building small relatively cheap machines and learning how to make them move. You learn some programming and electronic skills along the way.

Then at some point you sit down with a pen and paper and define exactly what your machine is going to have to do.

You define the inputs it will have and the outputs it will need to operate. From this you can derive a mechanical design and a start on the control system.

You have a steep learning curve that will not be over come in a few days, weeks or even months.

Eventually if you persist you will be in a much better place to ask specific questions relating to a problem you thoroughly understand.

There is no short route, no quick fix to gaining skills and expertese.

Good idea !!

Make the robot as light as a rat [ this will not trigger a mine ], use a uP and a captive bee explosive smell sensor.

You can train your own bees to seek explosives in an hour..
