Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia..... long word right........... does anyone know any words longer then that? =D Here is a link to some of the longest words in the ENGLISH language =D-

Oh yeah, to who it may concern "Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia" is the fear of long words. :P

that is fantasticlicouslylongword :-)

pnumonoultramicroscopicsilicavolcanoconiosis is a disease you get from breathing silica dust.

damn my last name is 15 letters long with 7 syllables

i got drunk for the first time ever in Las Vegas, but what happens in vegas stays in vegas right lol. my mom will kill me if she finds out =O

Not tectonically the longest word because it's a chemical name but:

methionylglutaminylarginyltyrosylglutamylserylleucyl phenylalanylalanylglutaminylleucyllysylglutamylarginyl lysylglutamylglycylalanylphenylalanylvalylprolylphenyl alanylvalylthreonylleucylglycylaspartylprolylglycylisol eucylglutamylglutaminylserylleucyllysylisoleucylaspartyl threonylleucylisoleucylglutamylalanylglycylalanylaspartyl alanylleucylglutamylleucylglycylisoleucylprolylphenyl alanylserylaspartylprolylleucylalanylaspartylglycylprolyl threonylisoleucylglutaminylasparaginylalanylthreonylleucyl arginylalanylphenylalanylalanylalanylglycylvalylthreonyl prolylalanylglutaminylcysteinylphenylalanylglutamyl methionylleucylalanylleucylisoleucylarginylglutaminyllysyl histidylprolylthreonylisoleucylprolylisoleucylglycylleucyl leucylmethionyltyrosylalanylasparaginylleucylvalylphenyl alanylasparaginyllysylglycylisoleucylaspartylglutamylphenyl alanyltyrosylalanylglutaminylcysteinylglutamyllysylvalyl glycylvalylaspartylserylvalylleucylvalylalanylaspartylvalyl prolylvalylglutaminylglutamylserylalanylprolylphenylalanyl arginylglutaminylalanylalanylleucylarginylhistidylasparaginyl valylalanylprolylisoleucylphenylalanylisoleucylcysteinyl prolylprolylaspartylalanylaspartylaspartylaspartylleucyl leucylarginylglutaminylisoleucylalanylseryltyrosylglycyl arginylglycyltyrosylthreonyltyrosylleucylleucylserylarginyl alanylglycylvalylthreonylglycylalanylglutamylasparaginyl arginylalanylalanylleucylprolylleucylasparaginylhistidyl leucylvalylalanyllysylleucyllysylglutamyltyrosylasparaginyl alanylalanylprolylprolylleucylglutaminylglycylphenylalanyl glycylisoleucylserylalanylprolylaspartylglutaminylvalyllysyl alanylalanylisoleucylaspartylalanylglycylalanylalanylglycyl alanylisoleucylserylglycylserylalanylisoleucylvalyllysylisol eucylisoleucylglutamylglutaminylhistidylasparaginylisoleucyl glutamylprolylglutamyllysylmethionylleucylalanylalanylleucyl lysylvalylphenylalanylvalylglutaminylprolylmethionyllysyl alanylalanylthreonylarginylserine

Wow, try putting THAT on the side of a medicine bottle LOL

WARNING do no take if you are allergic to a chemical that's name is to long to fit on this side of the bottle :-P

Or if you have the condition called: Sesquipedalophobia

or if u suffer from Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia...

In this case it isn't "or" it is "and ;-) since Sesquipedalophobia means the same thing (actually, it is a potion of the longer work.....)

Do you always speak of yourself in the third person? ;-)

Just trying to PRONOUNCE it could cause cancer LOL

Titin, though it seems like it's real name should be longer.

For long protein-sequences you go for letters, but if you want a long name...
Someone synthesised Brevetoxin B (well actually it was K C Nicalou), that's one of those top-rated >4.5 Instructables achievements. But try naming it...

.  Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious is close.

I guess the longest word in the English language is Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis

The sentence describing the word is shorter.

You beat me to it.  I had to learn to spell that in 5th grade.

Had some good teachers. Always kept us challenged. Not like highschool where it felt like they were just trying to pass people, even if they didn't deserve to.

My high school's trying to not pass us!

I've always hated how every single year at maths is doing very simple maths, like basic algebra and surface area; in year 9.

typically when entering the "long word" competition it can't be a technical term, it can't be a coined term and it actually has to be in english (i.e. not latin)

the long held notion of antidisestablishmentarianism as being the longest word is still up there given that it's got no challenges based on the previously mentioned stipulations.

what about antiantidisestablishmentarianism? or being against antidisestablishmentarianism? one could argue that that just means you're a disestablishmentarian, but what if you're neither for nor against disestablishmentarianism but you're explicitely against being against it?

There was that really long word that was used to name some chemical.  I saw it on the back of a dictionary, it took up the entire page.

(chemical) IUPAC naming is a bit like Lego or K'NEX - you can build a really-long word if you're describing something complex. It's a logical description of the bits and the way they're arranged.

It's great fun if you like brain-melting logic problems....

I'm probably top of my class in maths... Doesn't mean I like it.
