# How do I build a mechanical calculator?

I'm planning to build a mechanical calculator which can add, subtract and multiply.. I cant find any help. Can anybody give me some links where i can be guided better?

comadorepet, you're spelling needs a lot of help. It's bad enough to misspell your own name, but to repeatedly misspell abacus shows you just haven't paid attention. I think this situation will resolve itself if your parents will just have you repeat fourth grade altogether.

Make a slide rule!

It can multiply, divide, compute logarithms, square roots, trigonometric functions, power functions, and probably other things. It's smaller than an abacus and much faster to use.

Adding and subtracting with it is so slow and difficult that it's not worth it. You can do that in your head, right?

Most DIYers don't make mechanical computers for their practicality. Hence, creating gigantic gear-and-pulley monstrosities that can only add and subtract a few numbers. I don't think something whipped up in ten minutes was what he was looking for.
