How do i get more range from my rc car? Answered

Okay I have this rc car that I got to go way faster, but now i need to know how to get it to go farther from me so I can get it to get up to speed.

You could buy an RF amplifier, they are relatively cheap and add it into the transmitter circuitry just before the antenna and it will give it more power. Just an idea.

This will work perfect. It should fit right into the car were your old reciever was.
it can go about 200 yards. I know that from experience i have it and its very cheap so its perfect

I don't know much about it, but don't you have to make the frequencies it sends more powerful or something like that?

I suppose if you happen to have another receiver and transmitter, tuned to the same settings as your original, you could rig a repeater at some halfway point (the point just prior to drop off in your current setup) You - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Current failiure You - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - repeater - - - -- - - - - - - - - new drop off. but it would have to be a known course and be finite in width. Anyone have issues with that. This isn't from experience, just a hunch.

Yes. Its not a packet switched protocol. The interference would be nasty.

Like redesign says, you could mess with the antenna, and you'd probably do better with a more directional antenna on your transmitter, after all, you are always facing your model, so why transmit power behind you ? Likewise, this is a car, so why transmit your signal into space !

A very simple antenna, which still has 360 degree sensitivity in azimuth, but nearly parallel to the ground in altitude, is the slim-jim. I think it might be too long in this waveband, but its an idea.

You can try putting on a longer antenna on the transmitter and receiver, but that might not work if they are already the optimum length. THe next step would be to change the receiver for a more sensitive one and the transmitter for a more powerful one. Look at towerhobbies.com and see what they have there for you. If you change just one of them you have to make sure that what you get is compatible with the other one. Unless you know what you are doing there isn't any easy way to increase the distance by changing the electronics that you already have.
