I don't know, and I don't really care - the rating system is underused and often abused, so I started ignoring it some time ago.

I judge the general opinion of the community by the comments my projects receive.

True, but it has been observed that people either don't bother rating, or rate low on purpose as an act of spite.

One thing I've noticed is that the weighting of it's very easily thrown by a single result, even with a big number of actual ratings.  Personally I've never cared too much for rating systems in general when there are comments to read.

I've found the majority of mine were over three, though some of it's clear...

I noticed Knex is generally high rated due to the community within the community thing, solidarity and that...

Very true. People can rate rate you 0.5 if they hate you, or whatever reason, or they could rate you 5 if it's the cheapest instructable ever! You got me thinking.....

I agree.  I often see people offering 5* on your instructables for doing something for them, or winning a contest.  This skews the rating, making it artificially higher than it should be.

58 of mine are above three and 14 are below three.

OK, you made me check.

19 out of my 101 projects are rated under 3 stars.

I didn't think you'd actually check!
By the way, do you have the most instructables out of any member on this site?

2 of my 5. Both my SKAK things. Which, I know aren't the best, but I think they're okay.

3 of my 5 have under 3*... one's not even rated :(
I really do think that people just rate it horribly becasue they feel like making people miserable.

Yeah, people probably do. I will stop thinking about ratings now.

They do to boost their egos. That's why there are so many great things that are rated horribly and so many horrible things that are rated highly.

 Ratings tend to be useless.

Why care about what the general populous thinks when the only true opinion that matters is yours?

Sure, constructive comments may help in some errors, and maybe structure form.

Ratings systems (movie ratings, game ratings, etc.) are just attempts at convincing others to not discover the true value of the object in question for themselves, even though the value is relative to the person.

For instance, a KNEX instructable is completely useless to me, and if I rated it, I wouldn't rate it very high.  But, to someone else, it may be very useful, and they would rate it with a 5.

So you are saying the opinion of others doesn't matter at all?

I'm just tired of people telling me what I should think is good or not.

I tend to decide, no matter what the rating is.  On everything.

Recognize though that I'm talking about the value of the Instructable based on content, not the quality of the writeup.  Grammatical errors, fact errors, lack of content, etc. are things that should be improved, and others should provide constructive feedback upon.

I have 3

All 423094230987423098725 of them.

YOU HAVE JUST SET A RECORD FOR MOST INSTRUCTABLES!!!!
YOU HAVE ALSO SET ANOTHER RECORD FOR MOST INSTRUCTABLES RATED UNDER 3*!
YOU WIN A CAKE!

5* apparently gives it a 3.09 on the first rating... That's what I rated this, anyway...
