I believe my inability to subscribe is only temporary.... Answered

Edited

Within 2 days, I should have the funds, and be able to mess about with PP to see if I can use that, otherwise...(I will try to confirm my PP account). . .

Edit #2

Grrr, to avoid any extra fees, I have transferred the amount into a PayPal account, so in 3-5 days, it will be available to make payment for 2 years.

*sigh* another 3 day wait....

ALSO, thanks everyone for confirming that I have not yet lost my mind or have started to imagine things. :-)

they are offering 3 month subs for simply making anything, if your name comes up. Entering one of those should be easy enough :-)

Yeah, I am grateful that free members still can participate in this website.

I suppose that would work, but I'd have to make something contest-worthy, which I still have yet to achieve. I don't really mind missing out on the extras, but it'd be nice to try some of them and to support the site.

What a defeatist attitude!

Just go for it - make something, enter something!

I'll will. I just need to find an idea or some inspiration. What are the current contests?

The full list is here.

Remember, it is not always the complex, or even wholly original entry that wins - clear, well-presented, imaginative projects also do well (I won a prize in the Gorilla Glue contest with a cardboard frisbee!).

What's with the new avatar...? I was suspecting her head to twist, or a scary face or something...

Why would representing this old man (me) with an old man be even worse?

No, it's not that. At first I thought it was an old women, but know your saying it's a man, which makes it a little scarier to me. It's nothing against you.

Well, I am not sure about foreign funds, you would have to ask Eric directly about that. In the USA, a check can be investigaed electronically the instant one wishes to deposit it, if need be.

I didn't see a "send-cheques made payable to" on the sign-up page, does the site accept them? L

I thought he had said something to that effect in a post on the announcement thread that it was live....let me look.....I can't actually find it now....maybe I was delusional, but if I did see it mentioned off-hand, then Eric would be able to give you more information on that. Sorry, I honestly thought I knew where it was too... :-(

You can send checks directly to HQ. I forget where he said it, but it's an option! :D

That being the case, people could easily pay for others subs' - sponsorship / scholarship? Could be used as user-run competition-prizes? L

Or regular contests, like BQ. Contests that usually have the ibles prize pack could now include pro membership.

Not having much in reserve makes it difficult at best, to get projects out for the contests on time. I had 3 more in the works for the LED contest. Oh well, someone else deserves the prizes from that one more than I do....still I miss a lot this way.

Eric did make a posting in one of the discussion fora that they'd be willing to accept checks/cheques/draughts mailed to Instructables HQ. However, that's (obviously) less desirable (and more costly to them) than a direct electronic funds transfer.

I plan to buy a premium account, it's just a matter of when.

If that made any sense, I'm half delirious today. So many finals, so little time! :P

im thinking about becoming pro...i kinda feel bad about leeching from 'ibles and not giving back anything (other than a few crappy 'ibles) but im planning on waiting so i have the funds and maybe for new features that are more worthwhile...
