I love Instructables, but the whining needs to stop! Answered

I love Instructables, we all do! Since discovering this website, my weekends have become much more productive; I have learned so much through the few ibles I've written. Knowing that a stranger has used my directions to create something is AWESOME! The contests are an added bonus, why not enter if a recent project applies? Contests can nudge us to learn something new, something what we would not otherwise consider.

Recently, an abundance of whining has surfaced regarding the contests. I understand that it hurts when you enter your project into a contest, and it does not win, but that's life! Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. The majority of the whining I've seen has been done by adults, which is disturbing. Perhaps you didn't win, but wasn't the project still worth completing?

Why do we love this website? Because it's a place full of ideas: we can see what others have created, and share what we have done. I doubt the majority of us were drawn here by a contest.

What is your opinion? Why are you here?

AMEN!!!!!! Although I haven't seen a lot of whining here. They need to stop worrying about winning in contests! It ain't all about winning, it's about sharing your ideas to other people. 1 of the only reasons I enter contests is to get a little fame, not to win. I'm a kid! Kid aren't expected to win. Now with the more experienced adults, they are more likely to win. But it ain't about winning or losing, it's about sharing interesting ideas. Check out my instructables!

First of all, this topic is ironic, that you are whining about people who whine. And I generally don't really complain about any contest I don't win (All of them), since I'm so used to not winning lol.

Frankly, i've enjoyed some of the meltdowns people have over such trivial an issue.

Perhaps he needs to change that avatar to a broken-off foot :-)

Yeah...it's like referring to "the curious incident of the dog in the night-time", and then attributing it to Star Trek: Deep Space 9. Technically, yes, the television show referenced it, but citing a verbatim quote from a secondary source instead of just citing the primary source is not good practice.

:P

Human, your logic is logical and line of reasoning is precise. It cuts with a blade of irony. Well played.
