I need someone who is experienced with the apple IIe? Answered

I have a great project idea, and I need some advice on it. I need someone who knows about the physical space inside an apple IIe, and possibly has taken some of them apart. Please send me a PM if you can help me out.

Ask your question. My first computer was an apple iie and I still have it out in my barn.

I was wondering if there is any way to rewire the keyboard so that it would word as a PS2 keyboard, or if the keys could be swapped with a modern keyboard. I want to have the built in keyboard set up like that as a project. If I had to swap the keys to a modern one I would cut the modern one down to size and try to mount it inside. I noticed that the cable is fairly primitive, not sure if I could achieve this.

I doubt that it could be rewired as a ps2. The apples had the encoder build into the motherboard. The keyboard only generated a code that was supplied to the encoder.

I believe ps2 keyboards and all others that work on pc's have the encoder built into the keyboard.

You might be able to strip a modern keyboard then rewire the switches to replicate the code it is expecting but that's gonna take a lot of work to figure out.

I'll take a look at mine tonight when I get home if I get a chance.

So this would work to hook it into a PS2 port?

This would allow you to plug in a PS2 keyboard into an apple IIE.
