I want to make a wave simulator (see video) but I wouldn't know where to look for parts or even what parts I would need. Answered

It's for a school project - material research - but to start I need something very similar to this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-m_VDE-BSgc Can anyone point me in the right directi0on?

You'd need a linkage like the needle cutter in the 1st pic, but they are designed to run at 20 000 rpm, too fast for your needs.
A better idea would be to use a windscreen wiper motor.
The red circle diameter would be the amount of travel from top to bottom of the tank and the green rectangle is a straight link connecting to a pivot on the wave displacer thingy.

Hmm I like this idea. My next problem would be power supply. What would be the best way to set that up without blowing myself up? haha

12v car batt or a small SLA 7Ah 12v as used in house alarm systems for the backup.
