I'd like to make something usefull to me... Answered

hello everyone!!

I'd like to ask you if something i have in my mind can be built . i am working in a factory and i am counting and writting few things on paper , cant use computer there ... but because i am doing lot of things i whant to have these things ready and saved on a device and just plug in the nearest pc and print the results of all day....
the device if possible need to be small like a mini laptop  so can carry in it easily . need to have around 10 buttons  and a small keyboard to write comments and numbers . each button will be a seciffic item and when i push the button will count +1 to this item keep the time and if is needed can  write a comment.  i got few skills on soldering and have make few things with arduino .
Everything you whant  please ask for more information if is needed.

thanks!

Someone who could write an app for a small tablet would be ideal but I don't know what you mean by not being able to use a computer there in the factory. You could get a bunch of those mechanical click counters and screw them on to your clipboard. If not, an arduino with an SD card shield attached should be able to save text from a small keyboard and tally the pushbutton presses. Raspberry pi would not be a bad option to build upon if you need to transfer the data to a pc, network, internet later.

i have an arduino which i can use but i am trying to find out how i can use arduino with sd card and keyboard so i can save few things .

i need few counters too so i can push a specific button and automatically give +1 to this item in the memmory of sd card and afterwards can be downloaded from sd to a pc so i can give the results up in the office ... is it possible to do something like that?

thanks!

you should look into this https://www.adafruit.com/products/715 or the sd card shield from adafruit, there are tutorials to get you started. You would want to see what you are inputting instead of just getting some beeps.

Depending on your arduino - if older than Leonardo class, then hooking up and reading a keyboard is still doable. Arduino.cc has tutorials. There are small compact PC keyboards out there to hack.

and if you need to timestamp with actual time, look for a RTC real time clock module for the arduino too. I dunno, maybe a raspberry pi with an OLED touchscreen would make things easier but more expensive.
