London Maker Spaces Answered

Hi all,

I recently moved from the Bay Area to London and I'm looking for a maker space. I've been deliriously happy using Techshop since it opened in San Francisco and I'm curious where you London makers work!

I'm loving this new city - just looking for a place to get covered in saw dust and use a laser cutter to really feel at home :-)

Cheers,
acoens

Thanks for the awesome suggestions, Kiteman! I appreciate it. I've searched online and saw several - have you been to any of these?

I'm living in central London but I'm not afraid of a commute for a good community of makers :-)

I have visited the Institute, it's a bit of fun, but none of the others, I'm afraid - I live in Suffolk, central London is about 4 hours from me by train.

Based on my experience of Nottingham Hackspace, I'd be inclined to try the London branch first. Contact details are on their website, and they do open evenings.

How long are you over for?

Great, I'll check the Hackspace out! Thanks.

I'm here for a couple years, so long enough to get my hands dirty while I'm living here.

Then you have got to check out the V&A as well - especially since they have a design festival starting in a couple of days!

I think UK shops won't welp him much in the San Francisco area ;)

Ahh, my mistake for not updating my new location in my profile - I just moved here, Downunder35m!

Also, this ex-pat is a lass, not a lad ;-)
