Maker Faire UK! Answered

Maker Faire is crossing the pond and will be landing in the UK! It will be happening on March 14-15 during the Newcastle ScienceFest which runs from March 6-15. After three years Maker Faire is going international!

No word on whether there's an open call for makers to go and demonstrate their own creations just yet.

Makes perfect sense to me! The Maker Faire isn't just for I'blers; do you have any friends who like robots, or explosions, or even arts-and-crafts type stuff (I mean quilting, painting, sewing, not Macintosh chairs and tiles with dragonflies :-)? I shudder to suggest this to a 16-year-old, but do you think your parents would be interested?

Thats the thing though, nobody i know likes this stuff ! My parents don't care really, if I'm going to go then i would be going on my own. I could get a coach ..... maybe.....

It makes me feel so good you Brits finally get your Maker Faire, when it's been turning up 15 minutes from my house for the last year or so...

I really should have gotten everyone to sign my shirt...

As RocketScientist2015 said, and more...set up a collaboration! There are at least half a dozen major I'blers there (you, Kiteman, gjmhowe, etc.). Even if you're just handing out I'bles stickers, you can still advocating for the site.

*If* I get there, I will probably bring the whole tribe, and I will probably get a tee-shirt printed up with my avatar on it.

Actually, everybody who goes should do that, so we can spot each other...

I'll be wearing my robot t-shirt if I do go at all.. I tried bleach-stencilling a shirt with my avatar but it didn't work out so well, might have another go at that or just get the printable stuff. Alternative idea- everyone get a lanyard and print out Jake's instructables member card!

Unfortunately, I made the mistake of letting the boys create my Mii - they left most of the hair off, and added wrinkles.

I suggest, we all go as a party, and book out loads of rooms in a hotel somewhere, that way we might get it cheaper - plus, we would be like tha instructables crew!

That would be pretty cool - I wonder if anyone would mind a tent in their garden if hotels are an issue, or I could slep in the maker faire...

well... my gf was at durham uni (only 15 train ride into newcastle) so, we coudl easily find a place there, the uni actually lets out rooms also..

Ah... If I'm really lucky I'll be able to crash with my friend, she may be on placement then, but it's a long shot, I wonder how costly it would be to rent a room for a weekend in the area. OR we could band together as makers and get an 'ibles stall on the go, I was looking at the site and wondering that because it seems like an interesting thing to do, plus we could demo making a shack over the day and crash there...

i checked the hotel's and there not that expensive , the average was £30 for a single for the night, but that was 3* so we can probably get cheaper.
If we do this i can get a coach for £7 from london.

Travellodge - if in doubt it always wins... though B&B's are cheap and nice, granted finding them is hard

If this goes any further than just an idea I'm definitely in, I can get a coach seat for £7 to Newcastle and ill pay for a hotel room. I just checked the hotels and there not that expensive either !
