Model Plane Location dropper Answered

Hi guys I am looking for some help,

I am hoping to create a model plane/helicopter which will rotate on an arm (or fly for real). As it rotates (or flies) it will pass a fixed point on the ground and release its cargo onto the ground below. The fixed point must communicate in some way with the plane/helicopter to show that the location can be moved and the planes cargo will drop to the new location. It is a tricky task.

I am also restricted in size - my entire project cannot be larger than 500mm

All helpful ideas would be HUGELY appreciated.

My plan is in no way evil! Anyone who says it is may be snatched up and never heard from again!

I hope you plan to use this concept for good. It could make a nasty weapon.

I would like to see a drone capable of identifying noxious weeds (eg. serrated tussock) and delivering it a dose of herbicide. In rough country it would be worth its weight in gold.

Thanks Caitlinsdad, your solution is exactly the out if the box thinking which I was incapable of. These ideas give me a new direction to start working from.

There is a lot of physics involved with an accurate payload drop, airspeed, weight, drag, wind, when it is released, etc... For your demo/toy demonstration, you could use any microcontroller to sense any focused light/IR/laser beam coming up from the target point and have a servo or solenoid release the payload. Radio/wifi/bluetooth communication is way more advanced and complicated. Good luck.
