Movember Ends Soon... Answered

And so it begins...

To raise awareness of mens' health, particularly prostate cancer, thousands of men around the world are growing moustaches through the month of Movember.

If you would like to donate to this important cause, then, please, donate here.  Don't forget, if you're a UK taxpayer, you can gift-aid your donation and increase its value by 30% with no extra cost to you.

(And thanks to Canucksgirl for the new avatar)

EDIT: (11th November) I was tidying the 'tache for Rememberance Parade, so I thought it was time to share progress here. Don't forget, you can still donate all through November.

Further Edit:

Movember ends on Friday, and you can still donate [click here]. I am under strict instructions that the end of Movember will be celebrated with a fresh razor, so I plan to document the removal "live" on Twitter, posting pictures during the shave.

I won't bore folk here with daily updates, but if you are interested, then follow me on Twitter, on @KitemanX (somebody already got "@Kiteman").

Psst, did anyone tell you that a catepillar has settled on your upper lip? ;-)

Oh, that looks like a great event!

A 19 year old that I know collected £250 for growing one, based upon the fact that he's so youthful that he really can't. The event was well attended, but I was tired and had an early night :(

I have been unable to generate interest here - it seems I suit the mo too much for it to be a charitable effort...

It grows! (See the new photo)

Ooh, you lied! You do totally look like your avatar!

Srsly now: great cause. I'd join you, but no one would see the difference.

Er, who, what, really? You think?

Wha? You don't see "some" resemblance? ;-)

See? I knew it wasn't just me! Utterly striking.

... oh, my word!

He has a bit of a longer (vetically) face than his avatar, I think

True. But then, so do I. They're caricatures, not portraits.

Understood, it is just that a caricature "normally" exagerates an already present feature, rather than create a new one.....but I am being finicky....sorry.

Nothing wrong with being finicky. Some of my best friends are finicky.

I can sometimes go to the extreem however.....an aspie trait....perfectionism....and yet I still can't spell well. ;-)

Oh... some of my best friends have aspie traits, too!

Prostate Cancer... Doesn't that mean we men all eat chocolate to support the people who have it?

Chocolate has been medically proven to help the prostate. ;)

The dark side

Cocoa is rich in polyphenols, which appear to afford protection from heart disease. In a recent study, the levels of one particular polyphenol (epicatechin) was measured in the bloodstreams of individuals who were fed with milk chocolate, dark chocolate or dark chocolate accompanied by some milk. As expected, the eating of dark chocolate (rich in polyphenol) led to greater increases in the levels of epicatechin compared to milk chocolate consumption. However, individuals consuming dark chocolate with milk experienced much smaller increases in epicatechin levels compared to when dark chocolate was eaten alone.

The link talks about foods that are good for your prostate, and chocolate is one of them!

Damnit, every time I intend to movember I forget...

Do I have to shave first? Was away from home working like mad and grew a beard but the same thing has started happening with the 'tache

In theory, you start today with a clean shave.

As I type, it is still today* and, this being a global campaign, it will remain so well past our respecyive local midnights.

*You know what I mean.

So I need to find aaa batteries and get back to the house by midday...

This will make for a confusing argument, the girlfriends begged me not to shave a couple of times (personally I would have thought a clean shaven bum chin was better than a furry one...) but it's in the pursuit of growing more fur...
