My HP laptop connected to my HDTV via VGA fine- but now it says NO SUPPORT. What do I do for this?!? Answered

Laptop to TV was fine through the VGA hook-up, until recently. When I try to hook-up now, my TV says NO SUPPORT. What is causing this, and how do I remedy the situation?

"No support" means the resolution the laptop is outputting is not valid, or turned off. There are a couple options. Depending on the laptop there may be a 'function' hot button to enable or disable the external vga display port. It looks like a little rounded corner tv screen Try pressing fn+that button (usually around f8) can toggle the external port... OR check the display settings for the external display output - the laptop should detect the display - then tell it 'extend my windows desktop onto this display'. Ensure the tv doesn't get a resolution it can't handle - it probably wants widescreen 1280x720 (720p) or 1960x1080 (1080p).

What has changed - what are you sending to it now that isn't VGA? L
