My Project For The New Year Answered

I think I've found a nice big project to undertake for 2009. I want to build a homebrew X-ray machine. I've done a little bit of research and found that United Nuclear sells X-ray tubes along with radiation safety equipment. I think I could make the other components needed (high voltage supply) by myself. Does anyone have any ideas or thoughts on this project?

1) Don't become sterile 2) HV power supply, I don't know if you are going to be able to make this, they are rather expensive transformers, and I don't know if you can deliver enough current by other means (SMPS, but that won't work because I think xray transformers give off 80kv, and they are coveted by the tesla community)

Well, there are several high voltage supply instructables that I think I could use. I guess I'll find out.

I think the possibility of sterilization would be the biggest factor. ;-)

Haha. I'm thinking about a lead lined cup if I seriously do this.

Hhahaahaha! If you do decide to make an X-ray, make the lead cup first, and link to it in the final X-ray instructable. :D

Haha, now I'm having second thoughts about the project. Too much talk about sterilization. lol.

For the sake of everyone, do it somewhere somewhat secluded. Does your dad know about your idea?

Yeah, and he's a bit skeptical. As you can see from my comments below, now I'm having second thoughts about this projects. Haha.

Haha, I'm a bit worried about that. I think that with the necessary precautions it wouldn't be too bad though. My dad works with xrays so he could get me radiation safety badges. UN also sells giant pig lead containers.
