My reason for loving instructables - What it is to inspire someone Answered

Well, i woke up this morning (just, it was about 11.45am) and i went about checking my usual stuff, when i stumbled across a message in my ibles inbox.

I opened it to read the following,
Hey,
Just thought I'd let you know that I was so inspired by your Mercury Bow that I built a version of my own for Halloween.

You can check it out here:

Thanks!
Matt

Upon following the link, i found that he had indeed created a version of my rifle, but he had changed it to fit his own needs.

This, right here, is my main reason for creating instructables - to inspire

Its not the first time this has happened, but it was great to see him using some print outs of my work to help him with his.

It is really nice when you see someone else making it and enjoying it. I really loved seeing the few Barbie doll electric chairs that people made. Perhaps instructables should add a "I made it!" button for feedback with a list of the projects they've made on their userpage. Maybe that would encourage people to report back. :D

I'll take that fifth!

I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy...

hey, thats a great idea, you should suggest it. If someone suggests that they are going to make it, i normally try and hit them up with a comment asking for pictures.

When this guy pulls the bolt back on his gun, he really pulls the bolt back...

What's even cooler is that the person you inspired is across the the continent or halfway around the world. Not as awesome as yours but who knew people have a need for a giant toothbrush?

I agree whole heartedly with the sentiment. I got this message today on my finger loop braiding Instructable:

Its a really great job
I tried it myself today and found it easy to make~
I have decided to make a few ones for my friends later.

That is the reason I love doing these. Nothing could be better than to inspire someone and be able to teach them what they needed to take it and run with it.

Indeed, i have hundreds of comments, all saying how they want to make it. Though its great when you get someone who actually has! There is one kid who is planning on making this with his dad, which i think is a great project!
