Nearly continuous crashing of Firefox, Camino and Safari by I'bles Answered

UPDATED 9 Mar 2009: This seems to have been a "one off." I haven't had any problems with any of my browsers on I'bles since last week. I did update Flash, per NachoMahma's suggestion, so that may have been the issue.


All day today, I have been struggling with extremely frequent (many times per hour) crashes of all three of the browsers I normally use -- Firefox, Camino, and Safari -- on my MacOSX desktop system.

In every case, the crash occurs while I'm access some page at I'bles. Not always the same page, but presumably always one with some form of advertising.

I don't know whether I'bles has a new ad server, or whether one of their partners is dishing out new and crappy embedded objects. I have not seen this behaviour before today, and it is not restricted to any particular browser. I hope that by reporting it, Staff may be able to identify something that changed today and deal with it appropriately.

. I'm with Eric - since no one else is reporting the problem and it is affecting all your browsers, my guess is that it's something amiss with your 'puter. First thing I'd try is an uninstall/reinstall of Flash.

I fully agree with you and Eric. It's must be local to my machine (and Flash is always a good blame magnet :-). The responses here have confirmed that for me; thanks everyone!

on the plus side, chrome seems to be working well.. for now it has system restore like ff !!

Ah, ha! I think I've got it. It looks like its the "Domino's Pizza" ad coming from Burst Media (your Step 2 above). A few times I was able to right click and use the Adobe Flash menu to stop the ad from playing, and when I used your Burst Media step above I was able to crash several times in a row.

Thanks, Eric. Unlike what Rocket mentioned, my crashes are nearly instantaneous. I switch pages (or refresh an existing page) and my browser bombs, leaving only the silly Apple popup asking if I want to report the problem. I'm just guessing that it's the ads because those are the only things which perform actions on your pages. It might indeed be specific to my machine, but I don't see the effect with any other Web sites (and I've even tried the experiment of leaving one browser open with no I'bles windows, and navigating I'bles with a different browser). Sigh. I am very well aware that I'm not giving you all enough information to fix anything; I wish I could be more useful

Which ones ~~are the traitors~~ don't use macs then?

I've had a close to similar problem, very very laggy, i always moved elsewhere before crashing.

Ive been using the safari 4 beta with no problems, and safari 3 at work.
