Need help identifying a tool! Answered

We're cleaning out my late grandfather's house in Caseville, MI. We found what we think is a garden tool but none of us could identify it. I need help identifying what it is and what it is used for.

Planter, you start your seedlings indoors and when you are ready to plant them outside you use that tool.

You push the bucket in the ground, place the seedlings soil and all in the bucket, pull the lever to open the bucket. When you pull the planter out of the ground the seedling is planted.

If you are to actually use the tool, just be careful not to damage the seedling itself while you are pulling the "bucket out of the ground". Looks quite handy.

I'm guessing a potato planter.

Since you just joined, you need to know I'm the only mind reader here but you want a picture reader... So I must guess that it is a dandelion root pull...

I await best response ;-)

Obviously a foot operated device. Could be a starter tree, seed or bush plant ground spreader with possibly restoring over cover to move with speed and ease...
