Need help with grandpa's old router Answered
I'm not sure if this goes in tech, so I'm open to moving it if need be.
I got grandpa's old router. I'm starting up my own wood shop and want to make a router table for the end of my table saw. The router he has has a housing/assembly on it, but it's fixed, not "plunge" or height adjustable.
Since I am COMPLETELY new to routers, having never used one- are there aftermarket router housings that can be adapted to fit other sizes, or are they all the same size? I don't know the right questions to ask so I haven't been able to find what I'm seeking on the google, but I'm sure it's out there. Any tips or pointers would be helpful.
Additionally- it's a Skil model 938, probably from the 80's. Bearings are going out. If I can't find an adjustable plunge assembly, would I be better suited to find a used router kit at a flea market for like 50 bucks, or buy one new?
Thanks! Hoping to get routing this weekend!
