Network, open port searching! Answered

Lets say i want to test the security of my computer/internet connection, i want to see/know/test what ports are open, how would i do this? i'm looking for a program or website that does this for me Thanks!!!

I think you have a misleading picture. The rack mounted modules should be either switches or routers. A cable plugged into a "port" does not necessarily mean it is open or closed. The software configuration is set for the port to be active (open or closed). For computer security, you are looking to see what "ports" or addressable channels can be accessed on an network connection. Routers or firewall software will block or turn off those "ports". You might want to read up more and understand networking before you try hacking or otherwise the open ports listing will not mean much. Some ports need to remain open but provide the avenue of attack. Good luck.

. Effectively scanning all 64K ports takes a lot of resources. You may be able to find a free scanner that covers all ports by using Google.

Yeah. To scan all of them you'd probably have to use a program that runs on your computer, so it uses your resources not the server.
