I would open it back up, and test to see if there is voltage going to the LED. (Multimeter) Did you pour grease in any wrong places, or get water or something on the circuit board?

i just put grease on the track for the laser using a toothpick. i never use water on electronics.

If you own a voltage meter, aka a multimeter, touch the leads of that to the leads of the LED. If there is no current, check the connectors that may have moved out of place, or something of that nature.

i do own a DVOM but ill have to wait till monday to get it out of my tool box at work

if all else fails and the led is dead, look on the bright side: you can now use what-ever colored led you want.

. You probably knocked a connector loose or broke a wire. . Assuming everything else is working, I'd start by looking for a connector with just 2 wires. . Could be a larger connector that is not seated correctly. . If you had to re-install the LED connector, you may have plugged it in backwards. . It's possible that the LED burnt out at the same time you worked on the unit. A VOM (as per Brenn10) will verify that.
