Ponoko Alternatives? Answered

Hey there! I'm really excited about this class, but I have a question...do you know of any alternatives to Ponoko that are Canada friendly? The shipping costs are crazy to Canada using Ponoko. They wanted 40 bucks to ship me my little tissue box :(

Here's another option- I've heard good things about them: https://www.pololu.com/product/749

Check your public library. They may have a Makerspace with 3D printers and laser cutters ... all you need is a library card and their free training on use. Ottawa Public Library has Imaginespace.

That's crazy. I'm going to ask around and see if there's a better option for Canada. What city / province are you in? A lot of times, local print shops have a laser cutter for jobs like signage. You might find something close by and avoid shipping altogether. You might find a shop in Montreal / Toronto / Vancouver that has reasonable prices and will ship domestically.

Another jobshop is open desk. Thy are all over to save on shipping and to let you meet with them.

Not sure about their shipping policies, but Makerlabs.ca will fabricate most things with a staff of fabricators and a small fleet of laser cutters.

i'm in the Montreal area actually. Any hot tips on some good outfits in the area? In the mean time, I'll take a look at the links you already sent my way!

Cheers!
