With this circuit, does it matter how many amps the input is rated at? The output is supposed to be 2 amps at 9 volts


. As long as your source will put out ~1.5A@12V (or ~0.5A@35V), you should be OK. If you need less than 2A out, you can get by with less in. . A heatsink may be needed on the 7809 if you plan on getting the full 2A out.

If they don't heatsink it the thermal shutdown will kick in well before the 2 amp mark.....

Need to make sure the chip can handle it, one of the tech gurus will probably confirm whether it will or not...
