Propane Fire Pit Answered

I made a propane fire pit and can't get the flame to go high. I was wondering if it makes a difference on the distance that I have the propane tank from the fire pit? and do I have to use an air mixture?

If you added some photos of the pit, we'd be able to give better advice.

If you have to ask this here it basically means you know nothing about gas fires and even less about safety.

In all modern countries it is illegal to use homemade gas heaters, fires, ovens or similar due to the risks involved.
You, your house and maybe your neighbours are better off if you get a fire pit from the store...

What are you using for the burner and regulator? You should be essentially putting the guts of a gas BBQ in a different container otherwise you just have a flamethrower. You would want the tank piped to feed the gas from a safe location away from the heat of the pit.
