Rainbow Cake Answered

This rainbow cake is a labor of love and sweetness. Getting all the colors right and laying down all that frosting takes some serious time and effort. If you want to learn how to make one for yourself or someone special, follow the link below for the details.

Looks noxious, I think jelly / Jell-O would work better, you could backlight it too? L

A little dessert platter with an LED through the bottom. Not sure about the white section though, maybe if you made thin layers of white and used a bright enough LED then it would shine the whole way through? That would be great for parties.

Rainbows don't have white in them, but yes that sort of thing. L

Well, rainbows were "originally" white light, that is refracted into all the colors....having white is kind of self defeating :-)

Pssst,  I was humorously over-analyzing that ;-)

You can think of the white as the clouds.

I was talking about this cake though.

I've seen a recipe like this using Jell-O in a magazine a while ago...

egads that is made with 6 full height layers?   If it were made more like a Torte it wouldn't be so high, but then, that might take some of the fun(?) out of it?  :-)     I wonder if icing can be made clear.....hmmm

....."happy birthday to you!  Happy Birthday to you!!!!!!"......."Happy birthday dear (fill in the BLANK) !!!!!"....."Happy......Ugh!!!(this is stupid!)

Hey!!!  Is that like, jello!!!!        =?

I say it looks gorgeous and definately like something i would consume and eat up every last bit of it without even giving my mom

Might just make one for friday, being the day of Harvey Milk's death.... Very important day!

But then again, it's slightly ironic, due to the twinkie defense!  I was driven insane by rainbow cake.

Does it taste like a rainbow? If it doesn't, I'm disappointed for six layers of cake on top of each other.

Cherry for red Orange for...well, orange lemon for yellow lime for green something blue for blue and grape for purple.

Or Roses for Red Pennies for Orange Mustard for Yellow Pickles for Green Mayonnaise for blue and squid ink for purple :)

Hey! Your suggestion made me make a new poem!

Roses taste like red
mayonnaise like blue
Pickles are green
Just like my spleen

I never said it was good

Roses are red
Pickles are green
Blueberries are blue
This taste like glue

Yea but that seems a little weird for a cake in my opinion. Muffins however...

Yum! Maybe you could pipe something on top. Or you could serve it unsliced as a plain white cake and then you would slice it... surprise!

Wow well you don't see that everyday.

OH color the frosting in between cake layers for a mega rainbow!!

Is it just six cakes stacked on top of each other?

I don't know....working with thin layers of cake can be a bit tedious at times :-)

Sometimes, for parties, I'll make a similar thing with jello.

I think i've seen that before somewhere...

Some one had to say it; THE CAKE IS A LIE!!!

Like hiding some one in a cake, but better!

Mmmm....Take two pieces and put one upside down on top of the other... double rainbow!

awesome that looks really good not right now
