Running applications. Answered

IF you want to run applications that are not enabled by defult, right-click and select 'run as administrator' that's it. it's that simple. you still can't install anything but you can play most games/ run most apps with this simple trick. Have fun =P

I noticed today something unusual on the laptops. On a normal unhacked laptop (tested on a few), you can run any .exe that doesn't require admin. Another strange thing is that Windows Firewall is turned off (you can see in Action Centre), meaning that if you had your own wireless network (doesn't work with nswdet wifi; you can create ad-hoc networks in Windows 7) you can play multiplayer games with your friends. Everyone at my school is getting some error on login, so I'm assuming that you guys are getting this too? The department seems to have really stuffed up the network because group policies are messing up, including all the aforementioned "problems". I also can not access files in 'My Locker' that were created before some time early this year, showing an X on the icon. Anyone else getting stuff like that?

Now they enabled user account control on the DET Laptops. They also deleted some scripts of the DET server after the TSOs left.

Hi guys. I recently noticed that updated laptops will ask for a password to get into Startup Repair. Select the localuser account and use localuser for the password. I can't remember if there is any uppercase letters in the password.

I have made a program that tags along with the 32 bit Explorer to allow you to open any program you want on the 64 bit laptops, as you originally could. The way it works is, it opens my explorer.exe which I made, which is a program I wrote in Batch, and compiled with http://www.f2ko.de/programs.php?pid=b2e
Essentially, when you open a program with Explorer, it gives it the privileges to open other applications, which is where that Blue_Winter hack came from, which opened CMD so you could open stuff through that. I don't know Java, so I made another program which would re-open Explorer for us with Batch, and compiled it with the program up there ^ so it would be opened with the Original Explorer.

Here's the code if you want to compile it yourself: http://pastebin.com/nnpZisf4

Here is the download (Including Original Explorer): http://www.sendspace.com/file/8th8ii

Hey guys there is a way to use the 32 bit explorer on the 2013 red laptops.

1.Put the explorer files in the same location as the exe you want to run.
2. Rename the exe to explorer
3. Run the explorer.jar
4. Open task manager, go to new task, type in explorer and press enter
5. Your desktop should load up and so will the exe.

I hope this helps but if someone has a 64 bit version of explorer.jar it would be epic :D

I have a copy of the 64-Bit explorer. Not the knock-off which allows you to run programs through command prompt, but a modified class file which replicates what the 32-bit Explorer does.

You have the 64-bit explorer class file, EdwardHeartsU?
If you do, I could swap it with the current file in explorer.jar as I had decompiled it but I'm not experienced in Java and JS is a far cry from Java.

If your looking for a in depth tutorial on 'how to get admin' and 'how to access blocked websites at school' check out my YouTube Channel for tutorials about that :)

That is not the sort of information we give out here.

then what kind of information do u give out?

Have a browse if the site, there are over 100,000 projects you can browse, use and improve.

Just remember that if you use the Startup Repair hack, you don't have to make yourself Administrator. You can install programs with the hack by running the installer from the Command Prompt window from your logon screen. If you want to run .exe files, run services.msc, find "Application Identity" and set the startup to disabled and stop the service, then restart your laptop. Now you are able to run .exe files.

Oh dear. Sorry to bother you again, but you have the 2013 Red Laptops, right? Well, the thing is that I have the same type of netbook, however, I cannot do the startup repair hack - the problem is the "turn off turn on at windows logo" thing. If this is just my inability, could you tell me when exactly you're supposed to forcibly turn it off? Thanks if you see and reply to this.

Well what I done was booted the netbook up like normal and logged in, then I held the power button down to turn it off, then turned it on, turned it off when the Windows logo appear. On the new netbooks, to get into Startup Repair, you must repeatedly press the F8 key before the Windows logo appears when you turn it on.

Ah, thanks mate. I think that did it. Right now I'm on the "wait craploads of time for attempting repairs to finish" step, so that probably did the trick. Thanks for putting up with me, that was a big and awesome help.

And the TSO can't detect this? Also, If I were to enable the ability to run .exes, would there be a way to disable it again? I don't claim to be a computer expert, so if you could instruct me, that'd be really really good. Thanks!

Not that I know of. And yes, you can enable the .exe block again by running services.msc from the logon screen, find Application Identity, double-click it, and set the startup type to "Automatic". Then restart your computer and .exe files will be blocked.

So im in year 10 at the moment, i USED to have one of the regular silver laptops they gave out last year that could be hacked and what not, in fact i was admin on it for about 9 months until they found out and i got off with a "warning" :P but near the end of last term i broke the laptop and they sent it off for repairs. Anyway turns out the break isnt covered by warranty so they've given me a loan laptop..and heres the weird thing. Its a grey one, it looks EXCATLY like the ones from last year, but i cant unblock it. Explorer doesnt work, the sethc thing doesnt and i cant run safe mode either. And turns out it actually is one of the laptops from last year, because it used to belong to a bunch of people in my year. Anyways can anyone explain this?

the det came up with a new patch, unlicensed jar files wont run, safe mode is completely barred and so is startup repair.

wait wait wait.... can you tell me the thing again but in more detail?? pl0x

Below is the admin 'hack' for the 64 bit based laptops ( or 2013 ).
I am not liable for any damages unrestricted internet access and administrator privileges will have on your education. This should only be used if the interactive login account type is blocking your ability to learn (ie. can't install your printer or other program, can't watch an educational video.
This 'hack' is heavily based on the 'sethc' hack.
This will ONLY work with a windows update restart.

1. When windows prompts you to restart for updates, restart.
2. Perform sethc hack.

That's it.

Yeah, and I think something about Robert Handerson or something similar. Lame is a sound plugin, I believe, but I'm not sure about the other.

Haven't been on this site in a while. LAME stands for "LAME Ain't and MP3 Encoder" and basically allows programs such as Audacity (which is on the school laptops) to export MP3 files.

I got a thinkpad for 2011 so meaning the new one green colour thinkpad...everything is good but.... catroot2 is blocked... there is no photoshop, adobe dosent work...everything above this dosent work...HELP!!!

Ive got one of the new green laptops and ive got photoshop

Doesn't safe mode work on the green laptops though? They blocked it on our silver ones.

you mean the green year 9 laptops for government schools?
you can run minecraft on them bu getting minecraft smartlauncher.

If the contents of the System32 folder are edited in any way a flag pops up on the DET Security System and the user is given a suspension warning.

I have tried the "startup repai" method on the 2013 laptop and it works!
-Remember to make a separate admin account instead of making your one admin...

Also i made my own method which is very reliable and probably the most secure. I'l upload a tutorial onto http://www.youtube.com/user/ChamberOfHackz very soon, soo subscribe to be the first to see it :)

To access locked websites on the internet you can just sign in with an account from TAFE.

Hey anybody; at the start of the term, DET forced upon us an installation - I think one of them was a sound plugin or something, but does anybody know what they were?

anyone know how to enable a external cd drive to install games and such?

That is not the sort of information we give out here.

So i have the silver laptop, If you want to run exe files the best and the most clean method is the explorer and launcher files. You can run any exe however you won't be able to install anything on your computer. I suggest downloading portable apps or zipped programmes that dont need installation. The problem is you can't run complex programs. The best method would be to get the BIOS password and boot live linux or windows then simply boot normal without modifying anythong on the laptop. However there is a BIOS password. If anyone knows please tell us. I would not suggest to modify or reinstall everything as the laptop always is in sync and sends logs. also i discovered this thing type in on the browser. is the address for bluecoat (the proxy which blocks sites at home). You can disable it if you read further down although interesting thing is while its active, it records all the sites you visit and eventually sends them to DET O.O.

Heres wat the connection looks like:
DET Laptop ---> Bluecoat ---> Internet

Whereas at school its:
DET Laptop ---> DET 'Portal' ---> Internet
Thats why at school u can use 'other' accounts to access sites ;)

On 2013 Laptops, safe mode is unblocked, so use it to run exes, someone has to reprogram launcher.dll properly on 64 bit windows
