Sheldon Brown... 1944-2008 Answered

If you didn't know - Sheldon Brown has passed away :(

This makes me sad :(

I would like to propose canonization. St Sheldon. Surely he's worked enough miracles to qualify. The world is poorer having lost our man Sheldon.

As a bike mechanic it was not lemond and hampstead that were my idols of sport growing up but Sheldon. This was the man that literally wrote the book, that taught me how to build wheels and spawned what started as just being a tinkering kid w/ no chance of being a serious racer to still pursue cycling to its fullest. It was from him that I learned that cycling isn't just about racing but about living. I now have 32 bikes that I count ( and endless spares) half of them have his influences. Fixed gears, 3-speeds, and funky lacing patterns adorn many of my bikes. Thankyou great guru, god speed
