Someone explain the new badge feature? Answered

I'm not sure where else to ask this question but I'm very curious.

Lately, I've just noticed that "badges" have been appended to my profile when I comment. Like below:

What are these? I have no idea what they are, but for some reason I want more of them. How did we acquire more badges?

Looks like Olympic and Bitcoin fever bit the programmers. They seem to be indicators of the number of instructables that have been featured, how many views your ibles have gotten, and the number of comments you have made on the site. There are gold, silver, and bronze levels. Ask why and you will get the answer that according to some statistic they are looking at, it says people want more badges or something.

These badges are new feature to appreciate your work on instructables.

As of now these badges are given for a certain count of your featured ibles, comments and total views of all your ibles.

I think soon someone from HQ will explain more details.

You can see I got three.
