Step Down Voltage converter for my AV receiver bought in US to work in India? Answered

Please advise? Planning to use a Step Down Voltage converter for my AV receiver bought in US to work in India.

Need 240V/50Hz to be converted to 110V/60 Hz. Also the AV Receiver works on 480w, read that the Watts needs to have at-least 3 times of the AV receiver.

Will the Frequency change?

I actually called the company T.wice to find out if perhaps they make this a dual voltage receiver...

They do NOT !.. However they (Pioneer) did say adapters are usable in your country.. The sales lady was no engineer and could not answer if adapters were also frequency changers ??

A step down transformer will still deliver 110 VAC @ 50Hz

Now here there is a Quandary, a lower frequency is prone to more internal DC ripple..

Every Design EE knows to beef-up the DC filter components.. The question is if the (Pioneer) bean counters allowed this moderate expense..

You should ask them yourself at mail ( onkyoadmin@us.onkyo.com )...

thanks a lot sir for your inputs. Will write to them.
