"The 'Ible Awards" Answered

Ok, i got this idea whilst in the chat room. The Instructables Staff, should look out throughout the month for outstanding behavior shown by members of the community, and at the end of the month they choose someone to be the "-Ible member of the month" or have at the end of the year "The -Ible Awards" with multiple categories and the community votes on a winner, and they receive like a trophy or a badge. Just throwing it out there, feel free to comment/debate.

this goes along with Keith-kid's idea from about a month ago (which he pointed out to me):

https://www.instructables.com/community/Idea--Instructables-Awards/

This idea was mostly a group thought, so credit goes to myself, Keith-Kid, Killerjackalope, and Adrian Monk

I agree. Although it would have to be handled delicately, so it dosen't become a popularity contest, it should be based on specific deeds instead of "all around good guy" -ness.

Least likely to survive the month member...

Ha!

That can definitely be applied to the people who join and start acting like they own the place/ shove opinions down our throat/ etc.

I like this awards Idea!

I think giving out awards and such would instill a bit of uneasiness among some of us. I would imagine it would cause some people to try and win the awards. We would have threads in the forums about how the judging system is crap, and frankly, I'm not sure if the staff would have the extra time.

Sorry, but I think it be more of a nuisance than anything.

I agree with Bran. But it would be ok if the awards were funny ones, like: Most likely to be arrested, Most likely to go to Mars, and Most likely to become sterile due to radiation.

Rather than a physical trophy should be a "badge" on one's members page.

The idea for awards has come and gone, the main problem being what criteria to base it on. There are so many different "cultures" here that it would be near impossible to pick on overall member. By cultures, I mean the different syles of belonging to instructables. There are those who post a lot of instructables, those post great ones, but few and far between, and those rarely post any instructables, but are an overwhelming help in the forums *cough* Nachomahma *cough*. Then there is everything in between. There's just no way of effectively picking one person, or splitting it into categories.

I'm not necessarily wondering "who's the best ible poster" I'm thinking about "Most Helpful when it comes to tech things" or "Most Creative" things that base a person on there overall attitude and participation of the community, not for one instructable, but I know where you coming from.

Still, people have tried to distinguish categories before, and it's really just not possible to evenly distribute them without having a ridiculous number of them.

Stop inventing awards for yourself... We already have most charred, you're in close competition with tetranitrate, I left a nice old enfield outside your house to help you win...

Mr. Lucas (the Prince of Darkness) has sure left his marks on me. Not to mention the retribution that Hiroshima and Nagasaki have cursed me with (Suzuki,Yamaha,Kawasaki). Mr.Remington tried to do away with me as well. I figured I should at least get an award to go with my scars!

Hehe, hondas are my enemy, my dad had an old two stroke MTX, only a 125cc but it went like s**t off a stick and had an exhaust you could tune with an allen key, that thing has blasted me with fire, tried to buck me off it and even once electrocuted me.

My mates honda CBR has a devil clutch, he's ridden it long enough to be used to it but it's touch and go, you either stall or hit thirty before you were planning on moving... Also before he got his brakes reworked that bugger attempted to castrate me, coming to a smooth halt, when the brakes suddenly lock the wheels and I slam crotchfirst in to the fuel tank...

Yep, I forgot Honda. An XL 500 once dislocated my right shoulder. It's brakes misbehaved like your friends CBR. I went over face first, and the bike came over on top of me. My wife still has the Mark of the Beast (Honda CB 125) on her leg from back when we were first married.
