Top Green Transportation Instructables Answered

Saving the planet and saving money, all while getting to where you need to go? The secret: green transportation. These Instructables show you how to travel to your next destination in a more environmentally-friendly way.

Solar Powered Tricycle
This solar-powered trike, a Judges' Prize winner of the Park Tool Bike Month Contest and a Second Prize Winner of the Discover Green Science Fair Contest, can go short distances without emitting any pollutants and never needs to be plugged in.

Electric Motorcycle
If you want to convert an existing motorcycle into an electrically-powered one, you can try this 96-volt version--or you could opt for a different 72-volt model.

Electric Scooter Upgrade
Superpower a small electric scooter into a fast, furious traveling machine with this detailed power upgrade.

Green Helmet
Green transportation doesn't have to be limited to your vehicle: this LED, all-weather helmet runs on solar power.

Bike Generator
Biking is already a great way to travel, but it can be even more green if your bike lights are powered by your wheels as you move.

Biodiesel Processor
Instead of traditional fuel, biodiesel reuses waste oil and turns it into diesel. This biodiesel processor will help you successfully make your own biodiesel.

And, of course, you can always create a new way (and Instructable) to travel without hurting the environment.

ok don't get me wrong I'm not against recycling and finding new ways of making power but this green thing is going a little overboard. we should go to Alaska and drill for oil.

hydrogen converter kit, and h20 splitter eventually. start it with some propane and that burns amazingly, and hydrogen is the byproduct, and as we know, hydrogen=BOOM!, so it recirculates that back in, over and over. the one glitch i have yet to work out, is after a while, it turns into water, and i need to get a splitter.. but i might use a electrical coil or something to turn the water into hydrogen again... as you can see, i have been working on this for a while (hence my late response) but i am soo close. the only real problem is this is illegal for cars, but not for bikes.. so i plan on making some of these, and selling them. (the converter is illegal, because it would put the oil company wwwaayyyy lower on business.) ...doesnt mean people dont use them.

To move a mountain, it only takes the moving of one grain of sand at a time :-)

why have one piece of candy when you can have too?

because in small quantities, the candy is ok, but in double quantities, it will kill ;-)

Hmm, must be a large quantity....I have eaten a full 8 oz bad of them already (supposed to have 5-8 serving sized in the bag)

I know, and I was kind of j/k'g with you there :-)

And yes, I meant to type "can kill" not will kill :-)

Still, anything in over abundance is still not good. Too much protein, to many carbs, too much fat, even too much water can be poisonous.

The problem is, it may take some time to "move the mountain" but it will never happen if we don't "start" somewhere, and soon.

I hope not. Water, taken in at very high quantities becomes poisonous as it flushes out the essential vitamins and minerals needed to maintain life. There are quite a number of cases of "water poisoning" on the books.

In a fencing duel, the attacker says En garde meaing in the vernacular: heads up ! The loser or at least the loser of a point (touch) say: Touche` meaning the acknowledgement of the point given the other person.

When used like I did, it just means: I acknowledge your point (or you got me there :-)

The word was originally French.

Oh I have nothing against "green" and stuff I want to recycle i want to find better ways to get energy ,but it sometimes seams a little overboard.

it's not getting overboard, people just don't know what's really going on, they just watch the news, and by doing "green" stuff, all of a sudden they think they're good people and won't go to hell...
there's a south park episode that perfectly portrays this, you can watch it here, it's hillarious.

Well, I see what you're saying, I think it is getting a bit out of hand, but remember - it's cheaper to build wind power plants, and they never run out of wind, where as oil plants eventually run out of oil.

yes yes you are exactly right i have nothing against that stuff. but when people treat this "green" thing as a Religion then its a little out of hand.

What do you mean "getting out of hand?" How can NOT POLLUTING get out of hand? Are you people saying that you are PRO-pollution? Its not an issue, its not a belief, its just logic: the less you pollute as individuals, the less the overall pollutants, the more time we get to use the Earth to live on. I seriously don't see how you can say logic and reason are getting out of hand, other than the possibility that you're all just focusing on the buzzword "green, or go-green." In which case, stop focusing on the word, and start focusing on what it means.

I think his point was more along the lines that some Greeners are rather preachy in their voicing of their opinions.

Personally, I'm for cleaner energy, and I know how unnecessary oil is as a fuel, but there are some people out there that take a stance on it like protesters at an abortion clinic.

I figure the best way is to show people what works and let them decide.

Save the world, but do it with diplomacy.

I agree, Burrito, some people are a bit pushy.

But I certainly don't believe drilling more wells will help anything. We aren't short on oil, so having more won't change things. But then, that's my view on it.

yea... definately. im for clean energy and i think ppl are to resistant to change. they would rather put a dynamo on thier bike (no offenso, good idea) then then progress tword clean solar water wind, etc. energy

I think by the time that whether we pollute or not comes around, we, and our children's children's children's children, will have died.
