I wanted to do pole vault this year but my friend said that the coach told her that the pole can break and impale you. Today I was practicing hurdles and I completely wiped out. It was really funny though.

hahahahahahahahahahahaha i imagine it could... maybe if you were using a wooden one lol. hurdles hurt.... i wonder why they dont make them so the support bars are uin front of them so they fall backwards alot easier. i guess because you can trip over them...

If you jump over a hurdle with the support bar on the front and you trip you will face plant. I'm glad they don't have them cemented into the ground...

I don't think I would ever want to use them. I can just imagine running into one...

The other day I was at one of the high school track meets because our team had to work there and it was raining, as usual, so I brought a garbage bag to put on and one of my friends had a poncho. I was wearing the poncho with the garbage bag over it and this really creepy guy that I absolutely hate came up to me and told me I looked sexy. He scares me...

It happens, more often than I like to see it happen:

Reply 10 years ago

huh. well, i guess it makes sense because the pole needs to be able to flex and it stores a lot of power...

Mainly overused or older poles break, but I heard someone say once, you can break a newer one if you do it wrong *shrug*

hahaha well then how do you learn?!?!?!?

Reply 10 years ago

Slowly :-) Remember, it is not true that practice makes perfect; only perfect practice makes perfect (practice it wrong and you only learn how to do it wrong, consistently) ;-)

I polevault, it's my second season right now. I'm up at around 10 feet, I haven't seen any major falls though... bummer.

Lacrosse over here. We had a scrimmage today, we won by a decent margin. We have a young team so hopefully we can do well this year and rebound for a great next two years. I might start varsity for a couple games, but I probably will be first or second back-up on attack.
