Two new bugs: big gap for new comments box, and no Rich Editor Answered

Welcome back, Matt!  Here are two more newly introduced bugs to add to your list:
  1. The "Add Comment" action introduces an absurd (roughly two windows' worth) amount of white space between the forum-topic text and the commend box.
  2. The "Rich Editor" button doesn't do anything, leaving all of us in the land of the stupidly broken "plain text" editor.  The paid users can put HTML tags (like <P>) in by hand, but everyone else is stuck up the proverbial flaming Cuyahoga, with neither paddle nor fire extinguisher.
Have a nice day!

Well, both bugs you write about should be fixed. I'm using the rich text editor to make my post super awesome!

But seriously...it's working...

...though, the add comment still disappears when you click cancel...that's getting passed up the chain right now!

^_^

Now that was annoying. I posted my previous comment, went to try the "Add Comment" link, and composed a new reply to report the result. I'bles ate my reply and instead created a duplicate of my first one! Stupid, stupid, stupid. Any way, it does appear that both of my reported bugs have been fixed.

hahahahahahahahahaha!! Yes...that would suck!  I've never tried switching from plain text to rich text....and I was going to switch back...but now I can't seem to find the link...

hmmmm...weird.  I did manage to switch one way though (and no letters were dropped...maybe I'm just slow enough that everything is able to keep up with me...kekeke.

Matt, this was the whole point of my PM to you and to Rachel.

There is NO WAY to switch back from Rich to HTML (misnamed "plain") editing. If you are a paid user, you can use the HTML Source button within the Rich Editor to get the same kind of data entry (i.e., all whitespace is collapsed to single spaces).

If you are not a paid user, then there is no "HTML Source" button. Non-paid users cannot enter HTML directly, and therefore they cannot use the workaround of putting HTML markup into the misnamed "plain" editor box to get the right format.

I admit to being terribly confused.
Can non-PRO users use HTML or not? I've gotten directly contradictory answers so far. :-(

EDIT: New bug! Entering this comment with the normal default box, I got a "missing body text" error.

Sigh...trying to replicate and report...

Well...it happened, I'm not insane, but I can't replicate it. I definitely got an erroneous "missing body text" message when trying to post a comment with text in it. Can't make it happen again though. Oh well...

My turn to upload a picture.

(I managed to upload several in both the new and old uploader, from my computer and from the internet, and from my library tab [though I haven't tried to flicrk import tab]. I gave some tags, and some not, and everything loaded fine...

...don't suppose you can tell me exactly what you did?

:p Guess that explains that, then. Sorry to waste your time!

Man...I posted a really eloquent, thought out reply to this...and it reposted my comment to Lithium...

...grrrr...

...replicating that is going to be fun (no Lithium...I still don't believe yours happened!).

Anyways...to sum...I put that on a list of things that need to be fixed...but there's a bit of a list...so I'm not sure how soon you'll be seeing it.

The rich editor is dependent on which computer I use - it works on my PC, but not my EeePC, even though both are using FF (though my EeePC is on an older release, I think).

In this case, it wasn't working on my home computer (on Firefox, MSIE, nor Safari) nor on my one at work (MSIE),,,,wasn't is the working word here...it is now.

Well, let's see now....I'm replying to you, and the HTML editor (it's not "plain text," whatever the software folks want to call it) is up....trying to switch to "Rich Editor"... HURRAH it worked.

Of course, it still has the stupid bug that it eats the last two or three characters you typed before switching....but that's another story.  Okay, that's one fix.  I'll try the "Add Comment" football field next...

Also, is it just me or is there a new bug where we don't see the author info box on forum topics (or is that a feature)?

Yep (I _assume_ that's your topic but I don't know...).

Well, if the author has made or replied to any comments in a topic, you can possibly notice the blue background and "(author)" notation next to the username ;->

I sure hope they get this spate of bugs fixed soon...

Yeah. Also noticed that "Rich Editor" is totally broken, and Rich was good friend of mine. I hope he, or it, will be feeling better soon.

Will try inserting tags to see if I can at least get some paragraph breaks.

Hi, Jack. You (and other paid accounts) can put raw HTML tags into the "plain text" (really, HTML) window, because you'd have access to the HTML source via the Rich Editor.

Non-paid accounts, which wouldn't have access to HTML source via the Rich Editor, can't use that workaround.

I don't believe this is implemented as an explicit filter, but is rather part of the CKEditor's configuration system.

Yes...I've been noticing both of these...and I promise...they have been brought up to those who can do something about it!

Also if you hit add comment at the top, and then hit cancel, the add comment button disappears

For me, after I post one comment, if I want to post another, I have to press the add comment button on the bottom, even if I didn't hit cancel.
