USB Power(ed) Answered

I'm obsessed with USB powered gadgets, but i'm not sure what the USB current limitations are, I know that the power output is about 5v,  but i dont know if i can attach gadgets that uses less or more voltaje, so I was wondering if anyone here can give a piece of advice about what can or cant I do with usb power.

The normal USB port of a computer has an output of 5V and can supply up to 500mA (but there are tools to increase the current).
You can't just attach devices that work on lower or higher voltages. They will either not work (if they need a higher voltage) or be damaged/destroyed (if the voltage of the USB port is too high).
If you'd like to use such gadgets you will need a step-up/step-down converter.
In case the device doesn't consume a lot of power and has an lower voltage than provided by the USB port, you could also go with a simple voltage divider.

Thanks, I'm starting to get it. btw I attached a razor machine that uses 2 rechargable 1.2 volts batteries. I 've seen similar posts here but neither of them seems to use anything to lower the voltage, so if the motor of the gadget if a standard (toys) motor can it work with 5v or should I look for a way to lower the voltage output?
If there is a post about it, im sorry! xD
