Vancouver Mini Maker Faire 2012 Answered

The Vancouver Make Faire 2012 was this past weekend. Those that could make it out were rewarded with seeing a 2-person bike spider, drawing robots, a whole village of 3D printers, a fire-burping machine controlled by a Fisher Price keyboard, and of course the Instructables booth where we were giving away stickers, patches and pins to all our fans.

Instructables members did not dissappoint, I met =D, Kev_MacD and fastermileswho came by the booth and talked about their passions. Also at the Faire:
  • We were booth-neighbours with diyified, who showcased her DIY Toys
  • I had ChrysN and nick2334 help me staff the Instructables booth and greet so many makers (thanks guys!)
  • alejandroerickson had a "zest for mathematics" booth with a tensegrity workshop (it was packed)
  • avid bike-hacker snotty shared a few of his custom rides (one of them had a sweet sound setup)
  • I learned just how difficult it is to tie Chinese knots at arghc's booth
  • aggrav8d had his $100 mural drawing robot in full effect (and it was awesome)
Thanks to everyone who came out and stopped by our booth, it was a lot of fun meeting everyone. Below are a few pictures I took of the event, please feel free to share your own pictures of the Vancouver Maker Faire in the comments below.

I have a few photos too, but most didn't turn out well.

Is there one anywhere else in the world? (Australia? o_O)

Wow..Damn! I missed it! Will there be another one soon?

I think they are annually. So keep your eye out for it next January.

Here's a cool walkthrough video of the Vancouver Maker Faire 2012 for those that missed it (like me). :-(

I don't know if you're checking messages or not, but our event got rained out and I might be able to attend tomorrow. - I hope you are staying dry... this month has been the worst in 100 years. Even the sports guy on the news was calling it "monsoon like weather"... and there's a big flood threat throughout most of the province right now... (but Vancouver should be okay). So, I hope you're not too put off by our inhospitable conditions. It's usually a lot nicer this time of year.

That's really too bad. When is our summer?

We're nice and dry inside and seeing loads of Instructables members. Stop by our booth tomorrow and say hi!

Not only am I going, I'll have a booth.

Speaking of which, I went to an organizational meeting and they are encouraging us to have workshops at our booths. Plus the tables are longer than I was expecting, so I'll have space for said workshops.

If you're coming and want to learn about a particular knot (http://chineseknotting.org/) let me know.

I'll post all media I take/collect.
Bummer you can't make it out, I was hoping for an R2DBrew.

Man, would love to go, but sadly can't get away. Would have brought my R2D2 coffee maker to hand out samples...

I think we're in Vancouver that weekend, so will probably drop by and check it out. See you there.

So sad I can't attend.

I would love to go, but am out of town that weekend :(
Please post LOTS of pictures.

I'm going! (Now that I know about it.)

Thanks for updating us with information about the Vancouver Maker Fair. Its awesome that Instructables (and mikeasaurus), is making an appearance and will have a booth. I hope you guys can give us a specific location for the booth (when you have that information available).

Being a month away, I'm not 100% sure if I'll be able to attend, but it's definitely on my list. I'm so use to seeing announcements for Maker Fair's in other cities, so having one right here is awesome, and I'd hate to miss it!
