What dissolves plant matter? Answered

Hi, Thanks for stopping by. I do a lot of demo's for my family's kids to show how stuff works - it seems to work as they remember a lot, and they ask for more. I want to show how tough plant life is, and I have a range of acids to show how plants do not dissolve easily (to do with the cellulose) - does anyone know what would dissolve plant matter, please? Many thanks.

Digestive enzymes, presumably.

Hi Ork, Actually not, celloluse / fibre passes through the body intact. This can be demonstrated for example by eating corn; quite a lot will pass through your body whole espcially if you don't chew too much. The ones that do pass through will also have the meat inside the kernel intact. But thanks for your input!
