What should I use for Input for my LED Bargraph? Answered

Hello all,
I made a little circuit with my Arduino, 9 LEDS controlled by a VB6 application.
So basically any bit of information that I could display with this bar graph would be great.

But what should I use for input?

Here is a link to a video of it..:

(Not the greatest video but hopefully you'll get the idea)

I made it display the number of emails I have, so now it stops me from ceaselessly refreshing my home page to see if I get new emails.... I think I will make an Instructable about it!

Wow? Is that for my obsession with knowing how many emails I have? I feel a need to be updated...

1 - for fetching the num of mails in a form thats usable for leds (its not from rss is it ?) 2 - yea kinda emails are built to wait to you - not the other way . . there is messenger for instant communication

1: Yeah I used a pretty inefficient way. I was going to connect to a POP3 server, but it wasn't working for me. Instead, I wrote a program that saves the source file of a web site (my email home page) and then looks through it to find the number of messages (it says: Number of messages...5). 2: I suppose you're right. But I really built this so that if I get an email, it'll show me. That way I don't needlessly check my email. (I may have exaggerated the whole checking emails constantly thing..)

network traffic no need in software control - wire it off the led in the netcard

How about; CPU temp? Volume of the sound? The amount of ram being used? CPU usage (by percent)? Fan speed? Other computer related stuff?
