Where Should I Get Leather If I Have No Mailing Address? Answered

I have been wanting to make a leather notebook for a while now, but haven't been able to find any and can't order any online. Any ideas?

Free section of craigslist occasionally has leather sofa. Owners probably want the whole thing gone, tho, not just have it skinned. I've seen such furniture beside dumpsters, too. I had no qualms about skinning a sofa in that location.

Some thrift stores throw out stuff, some may want 50cents for a busted piece o somethin. Most folk wouldnt buy a left boot without the right one for instance. That one boot may serve your purpose. Doesnt hurt to ask if theyve got stuff too crappy for their shelves.

There is also the possibility of getting leather from an animal. (that is where most leather originates) Road kill for instance. Be careful when skinning dead critters. Dont cut yourself. Right off the animal you have rawhide, not leather. Tanning a hide is quite a bit of work. It can be done with the animal's brain, or with tannic acid from tree bark.

If your roaming the globe, check for the chain craft stores like Michael's, ACMoore, Hobby Lobby, JoAnn Fabrics that have many locations. If not, find some local fabric or craft stores. Thrift and goodwill shops might have some garments that you can repurpose for material. Maybe work with pleather or the fake stuff, you can take the hide of an office chair that has been thrown out or find a junkyard to take the upholstery off the car seats. Good luck.

Thank you for the advice!
Those seem like some good ideas.
I'll try some.
