Where do you get your LED? Answered

I've been looking at instructables and I notice all these awesome LED instructables... But my question is.. where do you guys get these awesome little lights? I tried looking for some on google but they don't have the correct shape and seem a bit different.. Maybe I'm not looking hard enough or not putting the right keywords in google but I thought it'd be nice if I had got some feedback of where everyone here gets their LED lights. Thanks :]

One more for you.

http://www.buy-leds-online.com/ This is the U.S. distributor for hebeiltd.com.cn, the company that is listed in the Throwies Instructable and has a good selection. Haven't tried them myself, though.

I'd avoid Radio Shack if possible. Their selection tends to be pretty tiny.

Ohhh, okay! I guess I could see where that could be a problem, they might not have all the sizes and maybe junky quality of their very limited selection and such. Thanks Fungus :]

Salvaging, RadioShack, getting stuff from my cousins/ friends that have LEDs (with their permission), I usually don't get much.

Sometimes I make them.

Just kidding.

haha, that was cute :] I think I might take a look at Radioshack, thanks!

radioshack's ok, the led's are ok quality, and way overpirced (in the few thousands of percent overpriced). If you need an LED NOW then you should go there I guess.

Hehehehe, thanks!

MWUAHAHA!

Eggs.

I just type in the color I want and put LED afterwords. Click the lowest price + shipping first. Only problem with that is you get dumb keychains, then find a user that sells the leds really cheap, click on his/her's name and see how much other leds from him/her cost. Most are from china though.

Contact www.phenoptrix.com (phenoprtix is a member here, who also happens to sell LEDs) - he's UK based, but his prices seem reasonable.

Are you having some trouble typing http://www.phenoptix.co.uk/? I guess I have to give an old geezer like you a break now and then... ;-)

I got some nice fairly-ultra-bright LEDs on eBay a few months back, 10 for $1.50 with free shipping and resistors for 12V wiring. I'd give you the link, but I have no idea who the seller was, and they seem to be out.

Why, ye young whippersnapper I'll give ye the back o' me hand, so I will...

OK, so I typed from memory, and I forgot the http:// ... so sue me.

*laughs maniacally, since the back of your hand is 4,300 miles away from me*

ebay's cheapest if you want like 30 or 50 or 100 of a specific type electronic goldmines pretty good

now thats a web site. everything you could want.

I have to go to maplins... still havn't got round to changing my bank account so I can get paypal working... other than that alot of mine get aquired from random junk and computer shops, I know a guy that ends up with tonned of random components and is happy to get rid of them at low low prices, lately though he's taken up more led based case work so none for me...

What do you want?
Omit the word "light", though, LED is good enough.
You *can* specify size, but you should be fine. 10mm's are pretty big, 8-5mm are the best.

I remember the one and only 12 v LED I ever bought.....was almost as big as my thumb :-)

I've placed several orders at dealextreme.com ... probably similar to Brennn10's site, but I've had good luck with them.

I once bought some from besthongkong.com. They are from Hong Kong, so they took about 2 weeks to arrive. But good quality/price none the less.
