Semi auto. we need one of these systems. if someone made one that is effective they would be really popular and tons of people would use the system

the idea is that there are 2 barrels and one pulls the other back

It won't work, unless you have some sort if system to aid it too.

That will not work unless you come up with a helluva mechnism.

no, it can't. it the barrels have equal power then it can't fire. if the right has more power, the left can fire, and if the left has more power then the right can't fire. and the law of conservation of energy states that you can not make or destroy energy, just transform it. so unless you had a mech that defies the laws and creates energy that it uses to fire each barrel (adding more energy to each side for each shot).

I could probably make it if i had enough blue spacers (since i dumped all my knex in a large tub its really hard to find them without dumping the whole thing out.)

no, your main problem would be length. the DD-27's barrel is made to be very long(to give the firing pin as much time to speed up as possible). the length of a DD-27 barrel with the firing pin pulled back is around 2 feet. a axle for the barrels to spin on in the Gatling gun would have to be a little longer then that. the axle would just bend under the pressure since it is so long with no supports(and the rod would not be one rod, but a bunch of rods connected with orange connectors. and then you have to figure out how to keep the barrel straight...

What if you shortened everything after the grey connector that keeps the bullet in with some connectors after it too give it some accuracy.

well, first, you would lose accuracy. the barrel length gives it lots of accuracy since it keeps the bullet straight. and even if you did you could not have it shoot grey rods since they would just stick out the barrel. i guess it could shoot blue rods but that would make it very weak.

you can shorten them, and then find that you lost half the power in the process...

Hey dsman, two questions: 1:Who invented the DD-27? And 2: Is the DD-27 a slingshot?
