Who here has heard of one of the many Chan sites??? Answered

I had a high school band meeting and afterwards we started talking about /b/ and all the other chans and what not and I started wondering if anyone on Instructables had heard of any of the chans. I know that the chans spread like cancer....(joke). If you have heard of them what are your toughts on them???

Don't make cancer jokes, they're not bloody funny. Venereal diseases on the other hand...

Aye, my point was about the joke you made, similar situation to if your mate were to have a bit and then make jokes about going for a drive... But it's a tetchy subject for a lot of people these days... Having a dead parent sucks so much! When you meet someone or something, they eventually ask and it's like umm, they're dead then they're like eh... Same thing for split up parents, which I too had, it's no fun... I did a video project with cruse NI, which went well and highlighted the amount of kids out there with stuff like this, I ended up speaking in parliament about it...

Aye it sucks when friends do it... It's also really bad with girls... When you've just met them then they freak and argh... I think people apologizing is pretty annoying... In general...

I'm praying all goes well this weekend, should be alright, she seems lvel headed but a few of our coming over to mine... So I have to deal with the obligatory 'is that your dad' questions if my mum and her bf are over but hopefully noone freaks that doesn't already know...

The other annoying thing is people that are like aww, it's amazing you must be so strong... To them it's a compliment but it's still like... I can freakin deal with life!!!

What is going on this weekend? As far as people asking about my dad it seems like only people who have a dead parent knows how to treat the subject. It is a subject i try to avoid if i dont know the person well.

having people over... including the latest interest... Should all be fine, a long as I can charm my way around that tetchy subject... I usually don't bother avoiding it but I don't bring it up on purpose, people tend to be bad about dealing with it, even older ones... Though some people loosen up after hearing it, because they get a vibe of being hardened to the world, or that's what the reasoning I was given came to, I dunno, it's weird a lot of people talk to me and assume I'm a lot older than I am. Which is odd enough on it's own... I think the more you experience younger the more it makes you that way...

The suns coming up...... Your very lucky living in the UK with the drinking age being 18 and all. I must wait another few years.........til i can "legally" do it. It cool and weird how we have been talking in this thread about something that does not pertain to the topic......

Yeah, though it's your thread so noone can complain much.. Bahaha, I win again, not only that but we're accustomed to it, if we drink then it's fine but americans don't cope that well with proper nights out, our versions anyway, maybe for the best? From what I've seen and we do get a lot of american visitors.

I plan on coming to america sometime... but I'm not too well off so it may be a case of befriending motel owners and people and crashing my way across the place... *wonders if old 'ibles HQ is still empty...

Not much to do? There's all those crazy dumb things to combine in to better sports... Also are there any alligators or crocodiles there? I have a mission to fight one...

Yes there are tons of aligators here. Some people like to eat them but i dont like the taste of them. I live a few hours away from New Orleans wich is in fairly good shape now. I live on the largest man made lake in the south. There is lots of stuff to do here but once you have lived in a place for a while it gets old you know...

Ah you need to put new twists on them... we don't have much to do here but at my mates house in town it soon escalated to me standing on a flaming skateboard towed by a bike while holding two big torches down the road with the most pubs and clubs on it in belfast...

I would love to do that but i would probably be arrested. I was breathing fire one time and quite a few cops came buy and tried to arrest me but could not think of any thing to charge me with. We now have a new law in our town.....the open flame law.....

Yeah they had a go at me for the same, to which I replied, it's simple performance art or busking, since I'm under 18 I can't get a license for it so I don't need one... worked a charm...

You cant get a licence for it in my town. It was not illegal until i did it in the park. When they made the law i asked them if they would name it after me. They wouldnt.

Thankfully, for me, as long as I slather myself in sun block, or just do not go outside (summer nor winter) my skin cancer keeps itself pretty much at bay.

I am not offended however, and look at it like this: Arthur (movie) was about an alcoholic; many found it funny. I could not. Fortunately for me, I didn't have to see it before a TV appearance, and I could shut it off after a bit and not loose $3 dollars (1981) at the theater.

It just hit too close to home. But I don't think about it much. If someone brings it up......I reply "yeah" and walk off :-)

You should have asked about the law and found out if it was possible. I just referred to mine under busking to avoid the complicated fire safety bit...

They are realy cool. They don't like people knowing there rich because people treat them different. But it is kind of hard seeing as walter drives a brand new 2008 Mercedes-benz and he is only 17.

Heh exactly, but they all bowed down to our cars at my school, after my mum took on a rolls royce with her volvo, in the gate, the both of them sitting revving the engines, it was funny as hell. My dad drove an L200 pickup after a shogun then got an isuzu Rodeo, it was great, pretty loud too, used to come in on wet days and swing the back round in the quad... It's weird now, my mum's driving a renault scenic it's a people carrier and it's like we're normal, it sickens me... A kid in my old school had a fully kitted out BMW X5 as his first car, that's 50 grand before you add any extras...
