Who makes a good hardtail mountain bike for 200 to 400 dollars?
I'm looking for a new bike that I can beat up and will keep going. I am looking at Trek but I need more options than that.

Look at what the bike stores around you carry. That way you get to see what you're getting. Talk to the repair guys in the shop if you can and see what they think about the bikes they see in the shop. Talk to some of the people on the trails.
