I had the same problem when i check the cable that goes to CPU it is damaged. The screw is broken so it is loose. I bought new cable then it worked. Another chance is the computer goes to sleep mode when nothing is done in computer for a long time, in my computer after i pressed enter or wake up button it will only display after a long time.

Is the cable securely plug into the back of the monitor and the PC? If you shine a flash light at the monitor and look vary closely do you see an image?

Typically the first thing to go bad in a monitor is the back lighting. Is this an LED backlight or just a regular LCD montior?

Then try unplugging and replugging in the video cable to the monitor and the PC to make sure it's seated correctly. If the monitor has both a VGA, DVI and/or HDMI then go into the monitor's menue and make sure the correct input is selected.

Does teh PC give off any beeps when it is first turned on? IF it's more than one beep in any sort of pattern that indicates a problem with the system.

I thing there is a problem create on it's power supply. You just change the power supply of your monitor then watch.
