World Record Gaming Gathering. Answered

A total of 342 gamers dressed as icons from games such as Final Fantasy, Zelda and Solid Snake in east London as part of the London Games Festival.

They narrowly broke a record of 337 set last week in Germany.

Festival director Duncan Best said: "It was a bit touch-and-go for a while but the gaming community really stepped up to the challenge."

The record was verified by Guinness World Records at the Excel Centre in Docklands on Saturday.

A further 50 fans in fancy dress could not take part, however, as rules stated that characters who were primarily famous from movies were disqualified.

"So we had people turning up dressed as Lego Batman, for example, who could not be counted," said Mr Best.

Get your details right, BBC! We all know Batman is most famous from the TV show...

Still, it would have been nice to see the Lego Batman costume.

I visited this the other week as a chauffeur for my brother. Wandered around a bit to see if anyone had a really good costume or props. Needless to say, these people are *dedicated*. Alot of skin on show too for somewhere far from warm or a beach.

No... I hadn't scrolled down all the way yet...

But what about people dressed as say... a soldier in Call of Duty or something that aren't famous from movies but were based on historical uniforms.

I'm trying to find Hitler.

Ahem, VIDEO GAME characters...

Oh, only the characters? rather sad, I thought it might include the people portrayed in video games. :)

If they won't count Lego Batman, Hitler is right out.

Well, sure, he is primarily famous from [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Producers_(1968_film) movies], after all.

I didn't look at it first it was second, the guy holding up the paper was higher up
