help with lm386 OP amp? Answered

I'm running my guitar's output signal into an Lm386 op amp to light up some LED's, but the amp puts out a constant signal instead of just when I play. What can I do?

Pretty much what re-design said. Your amp has some noise partially because of the quality of the circuit and partially because the gain is too high. This continuous noise will keep triggering the LEDs. A better option might be to take the output of your amp and hook it to a speaker, and then put the LEDs onto the speaker leads.

Put a variable resistor between pin 1 and 8. It sounds like you're running too much gain. Adjust so that normal pickin lights the led.
