heat the water directly with solar power. this reduces the needed power of the heating element or eliminates it at all now power the machine with lower power (or disconnected) heating element with an inverter of appropriate watts you can reduce watts of heating element by connecting in series with capacitor but the best is to replace it with one of lower power

OK. A washing machine needs to tumble or agitate clothes to push water into, around an through them. The hot water part I think you've got covered. The machine also needs a spin function, and a way of getting water in and out.

Not using any parts from an AC machine (conversion) you would need some kind of drum, and a another drum to go inside that. You'd then need a DC motor, some solenoid valves, maybe a water pump and a clockwork or digital control unit.

Might you be able to get any of these?

there is no point in really making a machine. modern inverters can convert your dc to ac with efficiency 90 % or higher but the solar panels themselfes are both inefficient and expensive. heating the water directly from the sun lets you use electricity mostly or only to power the motor of the machine

you can wash clothes in cold water, that's what i do; saves money and keeps my colors bright although the clothes aren't as 'clean' as they could be

with hot enough water you can skip on detergent atleast sometimes that is much greener we have 4 M2 of solar panels that heat water. they have noticable effect in winter too

I have the same problem. And a badly sized inverter. I was told by the expert that the problem was the cycles. So I am looking for an old Hoover Model 0307 MK1 which were made between 1948 and 1953. Anyone knows of one for sale?
