how to reset password Answered

I tried to change my password, but the site won't accept my old password. I don't understand. I'm logged in, why can't I change my password? Is there a way to just reset it?

Go to You -> Settings -> Password.

To change it, type the old one in the first box, then the new one in the next two boxes.

Next time you log in, you will need to use the new password.

OK.

There's an update being pushed through at the moment (right now, in fact), so that may have something to do with it.

If you're still unhappy, email service@instructables.com for more help.

What's an update? What should I do with it? This is all very, very confusing. Other web sites can reset a password. Am I not explaining this properly?

The software that works the site behind the scenes gets updated on a fairly regular basis, and during that changeover, sometimes things simply do not work as expected (think of it like changing a tyre whilst driving - you're going to get things wobbling).

The update is done now, so you should try changing it again.

Then, as I said, if that does not work, you can contact the site directly through the email address service@instructables.com. Tell them your problem, and they will fix it for you.
