instructables site idea to make more money!!! Answered

how instructables staff could make more money to run the siet is to make an option for members to turn the adverts on or off. if this option was here then i would turn them on inso instructables will last longer and get better sooner.

Relatively few google ads pay per view. For instructables to get any money, you have to click the Ads.

Google and other advertising networks have worked very hard in the past 10 years or so to find ways of detecting "fake clicks". They are very good at it....

At end of the day, the ads have to be profitable, if the ads advertisers are paying for don't eventually result in more profit for the company, they'll probably scrap them. Which means no ads, no instructables ? Possibly....

wait, what i mean is if you log out you get alot more adds, i want an option to let you log on and have all the adds you get for being logged out.

I think you need to research people's psychology a bit more, before you think something like this is going to "make money."

Instructables will get the money for me viewing the advert

Then you also need to do research on how advertising rates scale with views. The information (on average) is publicly available. When you've done that research, you can compare the difference between anonymous vs. free-account revenue, to the cost (i.e., income to Instructables) of a paid account. Please report back your results of that comparison here.

I *think* what's slithien is saying is to have an option for members to actually allow the type and number of ads that they get when not logged in, if they want to chip in out of the goodness of their hearts and give Instructables the full PRO membership fee, and additionally all the ad views that a non-member gives to the site.

If you pay for pro, you get a lot less adverts.

But i want more adverts inso instructables will get more money.

Internet advertising is a delicate business - have too much on a site, and you drive people away.

If enthusiastic people such as yourself click on adverts just to earn the site money, the advertising people (google) can, I understand, spot that activity from the time you spend on each advert, and end up refusing to pay.

(If you really want to earn more money for the site, don't push for more adverts. Instead, push for more people to visit the site and see the adverts that are already here. Post lots of cool projects to bring traffic to the site, and encourage your friends and acquaintances on other forums to pop over as well.)

I have brought new stuff to the internet on instructables and tryed to bring my friends onto the site but they think its only for knex. Ive put videos of my stuff on youtube with a link to instructables.

1. Its would be an option so it wouldnt make people leave.
2. I could open the advert in a new tab and leave it open for a while.
