You can find the list of xbox motherboards over at Wikipedia. The early elites still shipped with the same 90nm cpu/gpu thus had the same heat issues. Newer motherboards retain the same physical layout for the major components, just use more efficient processors. I think they may have stuck a slightly larger heat sink on the GPU. At any rate it should be the same process, that being anchor the heat sinks better and try to reflow any broken solder connections. There's a really good instructable on how to fix the RRoD.
